Here's more on my
therapy process.

My biggest strength is my ability to connect with people. I am interested in learning about you, your struggles, and strengths. I provide a compassionate environment to express your deepest thoughts and feelings and explore ways to resolve problems. As we build our therapeutic relationship, I will deliver honest, direct therapy; reducing defensiveness and allowing you to hear what you need to hear. I will help you recognize your strengths, gain new perspectives, and develop healthy coping skills to maximize your potential.

EXPERIENCE OF HEALING
I practice clinical social work and psychotherapy with adults, adolescents, individuals, and groups. I specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I have been working in the field of trauma for over 20 years, and have witnessed how trauma affects the victim’s wellbeing. Psychotherapy can be beneficial for one’s overall healing and aiding the survivor in their journey to thrive again.

My approach to helping you.

I use a variety of evidence-based therapies that are demonstrated to improve mental health and wellbeing including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing/Enhancement Therapy (MI/MET), Seeking Safety, and Mindfulness.

In addition to this private practice, I also provide psychotherapy, coordination, and care management to veterans in the San Diego VA Health Care System. I see patients whose struggles are just as diverse as their backgrounds.  I have worked with people dealing with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, childhood abuse, trauma, substance abuse, personality disorders, and a variety of external life stressors.

My therapy experience and expertise.

I served as the Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator for over seven years. I provided numerous trainings and presentations on the topic of MST and participated on many expert panels for various organizations and causes. I am a cognitive behavioral national trainer and consultant for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for substance use disorder. I have trained other therapists in this modality.  I am also a member of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy consultation team and have endorsed books/articles on the use of DBT for various types of trauma.
